British Offers Free Flight To And From Nigeria To Celebrate Independence

International carrier, British Airways, has confirmed they will be offering free flights to few of their loyal premium customers, who choose to fly with the Airline on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day. 

  

According to the Airline, this is to celebrate Nigeria’s independence at 57 as well as to appreciate and thank their numerous loyal and premium customers who have kept faith with the airline and have constantly shown their loyalty by their continuous patronage. 

  

On Independence Day, all Passengers flying out of Nigeria with the Airline in premium cabin will have the opportunity of entering into a raffle draw that will be held in the Airlines lounges to win tickets for immediate future flights. 

  

According to the Airlines Regional Manager for West Africa, Mr. Kola Olayinka, British Airways feels this is a great way to say Happy Independence to Nigeria and also thank its numerous premium customers for their outstanding loyalty over time. 

“We all know that the times have been challenging economically; this is one way to thank our customers in Nigeria by offering them flights that will be totally free, Yes totally free!” He said.

 

Tickets to be won are in the Airline’s Club World cabin as well as World Traveller Plus cabin, both at Lagos and Abuja Airports. All British Airways premium class passengers are encouraged to arrive at the British Airways lounges at both Airports promptly for their flights.

A lot has been said about the alleged love triangle between singer, Simi, and her colleagues, Adekunle Gold and Falz. But no one really knows how the trio actually met. Well, Starwapaz is set to tell you.

 

In a chat with a Starwapaz correspondent, she traced the genesis of their relationship. “I met Adekunle Gold while I was performing at an event centre in Lagos. Unknown to me, he had been listening to me since I was a gospel artiste and he said he was a fan of my music. At that time, I just knew him as a graphic artist, popularly referred to as the ‘King of Photoshop;’ I didn’t even know he was a singer, but we just became close from there. As for Falz, he heard one of my works, and he reached out to me on Twitter. From there, we hooked up in the studio and did some things together. Soldier was actually my song, and when he heard it, we decided to work together on it,” she said.

 

Speaking on her relationship status, she said, “I always like to keep my personal life away from the public. All I can say is that I am in a relationship but I just don’t want to disclose the person’s name.”

 

On whether she entertained any fears about the success of her new album, she said, “ I am not afraid of failure because I feel you learn even when you fail. I was more interested in thinking of how people would react to the songs in the album. It’s not possible for everybody to like a particular thing. Even for the biggest legends in the world; they have some people who don’t like them. I was once signed to a record label for four years but things didn’t work out well. There were times that I was really frustrated, but I have never wanted to stop doing music. Music is the one thing that I’m very passionate about.”

 

Speaking on how her diminutive size impacted on her childhood, she said, “While growing up, I was a bit defensive. Because of my small size, I always thought that people were trying to take advantage of me. I’m not an easy person to bully. I have a mind of my own, and I always say whatever I’m feeling; I don’t hold back. But my voice has always worked to my advantage. However, I hate it when people mimic me, or treat me like a child because of my voice.”

The Referee Favoured Super Eagles:Nyirenda Zambia Coach Lamented

Head coach of the Zambia national team, Wedson Nyirenda, has claimed that the referee gave decisions in favour of Nigeria, during their 1-0 loss in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Saturday.

The Chipolopolo defeat in Uyo, ended their slim hopes of qualifying for next year’s tournament in Russia.

However, Nyirenda feels the outcome could have been different, if the referee did not incorrectly rule offside when they scored in the first half of the match.

Nigeria went on to win the game thanks to a second-half goal from substitute Alex Iwobi.

“There was a lot of decisions which went the way of the home team (Nigeria), the goal we scored was not offside. I cannot talk about it, the game is over, playing away against the great stars of the World football like Mikel Obi and Victor Moses, it is another motivation to the players to do well,” he said

5 Killed Many Injured During Nigeria Zambia Match Yesterday

No fewer than five people were killed, scores unconscious, while others sustained serious injuries in a stampede at the entrance of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Saturday.

Thousands of football fans, who had thronged the stadium to watch the match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria in action against the Chipolopo of Zambia on Saturday, suddenly found themselves all at one gate.A surge followed with the fans pushing and falling over one another.The blood stain of those who died, and those who sustained serious injuries as well as those who were in coma, were seen everywhere around the gate of the stadium.

A journalist with The Punch newspaper was among the victims who were injured by the soldiers who were controlling the crowd.Police and the Federal Road Safety Corps personnel were seen standing beside some unconscious fans.Shoes of those who had fallen victims to security manhandling were seen in every section of the stadium.Some of the fans who spoke with our correspondent said they escaped death narrowly.One of them, Aniema Ekong, said that apart from the five people that were taken away in ambulance dead, she did not see any possibility for some fans who were in coma to survive.

“I thank God that I’m alive. This is not the first time this incident has occurred. It’s been happening. In fact, in every major tournament, there is always a tale to tell of security agents injuring or killing people.“To me, it seems as if this stadium is a blood-sucking demon. My experience today is different. Today’s experience is a near dead one. Let them be with their stadium. To me, watching matches here again, will be impossible”, she said.

Another fan said his girlfriend had been severely injured by security personnel manning the gate.According to him the security pushed the lady to the gate, where she hit her left shoulder and arms against the gate and fell flat on the ground.He said the lady had been taken to a nearby hospital.

He said, “I don’t know why there is always trouble in this stadium (Godswill Akpabio International Stadium). Each time there is a match; there is always one problem or the other.Many people were seen leaving the stadium thanking God for their lives.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Elkana Bala, could not be reached for confirmation as his phone lines were switched off.

RESIDENTS of Mbiabong Itam in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State woke up to a shocking sight of a 50-year-old man identified as Chief Ekanem Edet dangling on a suspended robe from the roof of his house.

It was learned that Ekanem Edet, former Secretary of the Mbiabong Village Council, popularly called ‘Jolly Boy’, had been dead several hours earlier.
Edets’s wife and two sons, it was learned, had gone out early in the morning unaware that his remains hung loosely from the roof of his room.

Kenyan Girl Who Stabbed Her Boyfriend To Death Wins Beauty Pageant In Prison

This is one hell of a prisoner who most guys would love to align with despite her condition -due to her striking beauty. The lady identified as Ruth Wanjiru Kamande, stabbed her boyfriend multiple times after a quarrel in Buruburu, Kenya over suspicion of cheating on her, now has been crowned Miss Langata Prison 2016. Her dashing beauty awed the judges leaving them with no doubt but to crown her the beauty queen.

Wanjiru is being held in remand at the prison after she stabbed Farid Mohamed in September 2015 after accusing him of cheating on her.

Wanjiru had accused her boyfriend of cheating after she saw his text messages and is said to have grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him for about 22 times and then turned the knife on herself in an attempted murder-suicide case.

Neighbors found the couple in a pool of blood and Wanjiru was rushed to hospital and later to Langata after she recovered from her injuries.

Wanjiru beat 19 other candidates to be crowned Miss Langata Prison which was held to support the rehabilitation of female prisoners at the institution.
